My Biography
I was born in Rockford. I grew up in the city and attended the local schools before going on to college. After college, I worked in the materials science for a few years.
I’ve always been interested in science and math. When I was younger, I wanted to be an engineer. But after taking some materials science courses in college, I realized that I liked the challenge of working with materials more than anything else.
I currently live in Chicago with my wife and two young children. I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, and reading when I’m not working.
My Education and Career
I earned my undergraduate degree in materials science from the University of Illinois. After graduation, I worked as a research scientist for a few years. During that time, I developed new materials for use in various industries.
I eventually decided to return to school to earn my Ph.D. in materials science. I completed my degree at Northwestern University in 2010. After graduating, I took a position as an assistant professor at the University of Chicago.
Why Do I Like Materials Science?
I like materials science because it is a challenging field. There are always new challenges to overcome and new problems to solve. I also enjoy the satisfaction that comes with developing new materials or processes that can be used in the industry.
In my opinion, materials science is one of the most important fields of study today. With advances in technology, we are constantly developing new materials that can be used in a variety of ways. As our world becomes more and more reliant on technology, it is essential that we have experts in materials science who can develop the next generation of materials.
